Intention Definition & Exploration of Ideas: Careful analysis and attention has been given to finding an area of digital media to begin a focus on.
- When first going through the many themes we could choose for our films, I was torn between disaster and history. I am a big fan of both, so I had to figure out a plan, an idea if you will. I thought about what it will take to create these films, and what I am and am not capable of doing. In the end, I decided to go with history, and how the effects of situations have on society and their citizens.
- Continuing with research, it was interesting to find how many things that affect humans and society, could be from: regular everyday norms, like going to school, shopping, eating- to things that don't happen often, from attacks like 9/11 or urban legends passed down for years. I felt so powerful with all the choices I had, my imagination not wasting one second as it started brainstorming possibility after possibility.
Planning: What to do. Making and communicating decisions; how to implement them, and projecting their consequences
- The first thing I did with planning is, I wrote down many ideas that all circled around my theme. I then thought of which ideas would be the easiest to film, and which idea would be the best fit for my first portfolio film. It was difficult, and I had came up with a lot of dark and depressing ideas, my film teacher helped me in coming up with ideas that ended a bit happier.- I would watch a lot of documentaries and YouTube videos on how filming was done/behind the scenes- I also watched emotions and acting from movies or shows that might have followed my topic. But for my 9/11 topic, I watched lots of It helped with watching the emotion, the news and the coverage, as well as what happened years later and how families were continue to handle the loss.
Producing: Creating what has been planned.
- Writing the script was not difficult at all, in fact, I'm pretty sure I was able to write in within a few days, but doing little tweaks and edits, over the time of the film being in production.Evaluating: Evaluating the experience; testing what has been produced and assessing what has been done to determine if the problem has been solved as intended or the goals attained.
- When I first started off the film, it was much harder than I thought it would be. I ended up doing everything and it was very very difficult. I pushed a lot of thigs off, and ended up squeezing everything together last minute. I was excited, but at the same time very stressed. I was also a lead in a show, so I had a hard time planning my film around the continuousIntegrating: Integrating what is learned with knowledge from prior experience to improve an outcome or prepare for the future.
- My goals for the end of the third marking period are to have films that improved and showed the passion I have when it comes to directing and acting. I want my films to be able to inspire those who are watching (The Audience), and I want to spread messages across in ways that are interesting, informative, and different.
- Film is my life, and in order to become a famous movie director like Tim Burton or Steve Spielberg, I will have to prepare myself for the challenges that come along with directing. I am hoping that by the end of the third marking period, I am able to feel some of the pressure and success that they might feel when going through the three stages of production.
- Watching other students films in class, helped me in finding other ways that could improve my film. Maybe adding in something, or taking something away, or keeping something in, but just changing the way I present it.
