Production Blog Post 3/27

So I am a bit behind with filming. I haven't been able to fully start recording, due to musical rehearsal- but it is a fairly easy film to do, so it won't be too much to worry about. So, for this post, I will be explaining my film in greater detail, as well as explaining some resources that I have been using throughout this film.

(Don't worry- my film will be turned in on time :) I promise.)

My film takes place in the future, where there are resources to fly to other planets. Essentially, the time when Elon Musk and his plans successfully send people to Mars and other planets to colonize. (Kind of like WALL-E, but that was not my inspiration for this film.) My inspiration came from human emotion, and at the time I made the script, Elon Musk was coming up a lot between a friend and I, and so I started putting a few things together. I continued to stay with my Theme, and am still focusing on how things affect society and the citizens going through the situation.

The main character was a person who was asked to stay on Earth and send reports every year to the Colony, when, as time passes- (And I may add more on: where it shows the years passing by from the very first year they left, to the current year/time of the film- the final vlog video, where my script comes in and it all goes from there).

Anyway, the main character continues doing these vlogs to keep/send updates to the colonies, when slowly, the character starts going crazy from being alone so long. They start growing more tired, more angry, sadder, etc.

In the end, they beg for a sign to give them someone, or if anyone is there with them and still listening. And, once they end the video and it cuts to night where they go to bed, the doorbell rings signifying that someone is, indeed there, the characters eyes shooting open,

That leads to the thought of many ending questions: Was someone always there watching and waiting for the person to ask for a sign? Was someone actually sent down? Did the colonies actually receive the messages and decide to listen to the begging, etc.

I am excited to do this film, because I think it would be interesting to see how others would interpret their idea of what colonization would be like, and how Earth would be once it's abandoned.

I will be improvising with actual news sources- gathering videos of the NASA and SpaceX launches, pretending it's video of the launches sending people to the other planets-(Which'll take place on the characters phone, as they re-watch the footage.)
