Artist Statement

  Art and creativity has always been a part of my life. From playing piano to creating my own films when I was young- it has always been my go-to. Film brings me a type of joy that nothing else really can. I got into making films when I was in 7th grade, where I would make little acting and dancing videos for my grandparents, knowing it puts a smile on their faces. From lip-syncing and dancing to “Mama I’m a Big Girl Now” from Hairspray, to “Put your head on my shoulder, By Paul Anka. Every smile that they gave, boosted my confidence to continue my filming experience. I joined Mr. Bomboy’s film class when I was a freshman, and followed it all the way up to my senior year. It was the best class, and I learned so many different and new things. Even though my main focus is acting and directing, I still had a blast with writing scripts and storyboards. Blog Post 5/8

This blog post will be focused on my DAF designs and progress:   So far, I have been writing the explanations that I will be using for my photos, as well as finding pictures. Sadly, the photo's that I selected for the DAF were deleted off of a file, so I have to copy them all again from my Mac, and re-do the editing in photoshop at school. I plan on having everything done by Thursday evening, possibly even Wednesday during class, depending on how things work.  My designs mainly stayed the same- I will start pulling things together for my display over the week- and I can always go shopping over the next week and a half, as we are working on our projects. I have starred all the films I am going to use for my display, and I plan on just having it on loop. So far, I believe I have about 5 starred- and I might make little projects on the side to add more variety. I've been thinking about the decorations I can add around my display, and so I might do some research on Pinterest ...

Danny Elfman, one of the most well know music composers in the world. With amazing scores from: Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, etc.  But, what exactly do film music composers do?  Film composers  create the musical score that accompanies a film,(film core). It can fall into 3 different categories.  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000384/ Diegetic Music: Music that can be heard by the characters in the depicted scene. You might see a character attending a parade with marching bands or concert/dance. For example: Schmigadoon or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Non-Diegetic Music: This is the most common form of film music, which is typically referred to as the underscore. This music, the characters can not hear. (Think of the tense vibrato strings when the protagonist of a horror film is entering the haunted basement- or the swelling harp arpeggios when two lovers kiss in an old-fashioned romance.)
